Areas of Treatment:
- Family counseling
- Support and educational groups
We offer a variety of groups designed to provide support and guidance. Group therapy is an effective way to deepen your understanding of yourself and your relationships. It is a unique experience of joining together with others who share common goals and experiences.
Group therapy offers the opportunity to recognize your needs, assert yourself, handle conflicts, and receive support in a safe environment. You can identify stressors as well as gain insight into patterns that have developed. You will be able to practice new skills with the group, which then can be applied to your personal life. Throughout the process, you will be challenged to grow while finding hope and validation from the group.
Group therapy can improve the way you feel about yourself, as well as with others around you. Our goal is to help you feel supported and prepared in your every day life and as you plan for your future.
Infant Massage & Healthy Development Group
As your infant is so impressionable and vulnerable, you may wonder how you can enhance your child’s sense of security and love in the world. Infant massage has been proven to foster a sense of well-being, while stimulating the healthy development of an infant’s mind and body. This allows you to have an impact your child’s development through a sensory-rich experience with soothing results.
As with most adults, massage can be invigorating to a child’s body, providing comfort and pleasure. These are important factors for your infant whose brain and body are forming and developing. This means it can have a positive, life-long impact on your child.?The facilitator, Dr. Sara Abbot, is a child psychologist who is also certified in infant massage instruction. You will have the opportunity to massage your child in class and in addition, gain a greater understanding into the psychological development of children and healthy parenting. Each week you will meet with other families for one hour, providing support and encouragement within the group setting. Infant Massage is a wonderful gift for your child and an enjoyable activity that you can share in together.

Adults Abused As Children Support Group
For survivors of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse.
You are not alone:
Group therapy has been proven to be highly effective for survivors of childhood abuse because the recovery process benefits from working through issues in the context of peer relationships. Our group serves as witness to each member’s experience. The weekly group process exposes members to fundamental social interactions such as being made to feel safe and seen, sharing emotional distress, validation of experience, minimizing shame, recognizing and encouraging strengths, and taking personal responsibility. Additionally, the group provides what is termed a corrective emotional experience in which past dynamics of self-blame, lack of trust, and silencing of the victim are evoked and then worked through. Our group offers a quality of support and understanding that is simply not available in the survivor’s regular social environment.
Many experience group therapy as a very nurturing, yet challenging, form of therapy. While the Adults Abused as Children support group doesn’t replace individual therapy, it can be a great adjunct and a final step in the healing process.
Roni Weisberg-Ross LMFT specializes in the treatment of sexual, emotional, and physical abuse. She has led this group for the past four years at the Family Resource Counseling Center. Celebrating Your 60’s
Creating a generative life as we age can be a challenge. I’ve developed the “Celebrating Your 60’s” group just for this reason. It’s a group for 60 plus year-olds, who desire to redefine, recreate, and reenergize. Relationships with spouses, partners, children, and friends might need to be re-defined. You can discover a pride in fitness and health as you accept your mature body changes. Re-energizing after building your family and/or career presents the opportunity to finally engage fully in your life’s passion or find fulfillment in whatever you choose to do. This group is especially rewarding for the sandwich generation – those who are caring for children, and even grandchildren, while simultaneously caring for elder parents. I invite you to take this opportunity to re-define, re-energize and re-ward YOU. Come “Celebrate Your 60’s” with guidance, group support, and encouragement!
